Environmental Services

The Environmental Services Department oversees the collection and processing of garbage and recycling for Pompano Beach residents and businesses. Maintaining clean streets, parks, community centers and beaches is of great importance to the tourism industry, commercial growth and the quality of life enjoyed by our citizens. Helping residents practice good environmental stewardship, this department hosts bi-annual household hazardous waste collection events -- allowing for safe disposal of toxic items that should never be sent to the landfill. Environmental Services is further responsible for supporting many public events throughout the year and is always prepared to return the city to normalcy following weather emergencies or catastrophic occurrences.

Christmas Tree Recycling Drop-Off: December 19 – January 12

Starting Friday, December 19, Pompano Beach residents can drop off their undecorated Christmas trees at the designated site on NE 5th Avenue, just south of Copans Road, adjacent to the Airpark. Look for the tree-shaped sign at the entrance. All collected trees will be processed into mulch.

Residents who receive bulk trash service may also place their tree curbside on their regular bulk collection day.

Christmas Day Service Changes: Wednesday, December 25

There will be no garbage, recycling, or bulk collection service on Christmas Day. Service will resume on your next scheduled pick-up day.

Additional Holiday Pick-Ups: December 26 – January 2

To help with increased holiday waste, extra garbage and recycling collection will be provided. Bagged items placed next to your containers will be collected on your regular service day. Please note: Bulk items are not included in this additional pick-up service.
