Solar Co-ops 

The City of Pompano Beach is partnering with Solar United Neighbors (SUN) and communities nationwide to make solar energy more accessible and affordable for residents. SUN organizes Co-ops, group-buying programs that help homeowners save on rooftop solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) chargers, by securing competitive prices from qualified installers. 

The program supports Pompano Beach's commitment to sustainability by making it easier for residents to invest in renewable energy. 

SUN also offers free solar education through online resources and in-person events, ensuring that residents have the knowledge they need to make informed energy decisions. By participating, residents not only save money but also contribute to Pompano Beach's efforts to build a resilient and energy-efficient community. 

How a Co-op works 

SUN organizes a group of people, including homeowners, small businesses, and non-profits, interested in going solar in a geographic area. Installers compete to offer the best possible price and benefits. With the support of SUN staff, Co-op members select their preferred installer. SUN provides support throughout the entire process. Co-op programming ensures that participants receive high-quality solar at a lower cost. 

Broward County Co-op: 

Coming October 5In partnership with Pompano Beach and other municipalities and community partners, SUN will be launching a Co-op in Broward County. SUN and Pompano Beach will be holding an information session on October 20, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center Front Conference Room, with more details in the newsletter.
