The Broward County Board of Rules & Appeals (BORA) has released an updated countywide Uniform Building Permit Application that will go into effect on March 9, 2026.

At the top of Page 1, the new application asks whether a Private Provider is being used for Plan Review only or for both Plan Review and Inspections, as part of this update.

If You Are Using a Private Provider

If a Private Provider is being used for your permit for Plan Review or Plan Review & Inspection Services:

  • The applicant must indicate this by checking the “Yes” box in response to the “Private Provider?” question at the top of the application.

  • The applicant will be instructed to attach the required “Notice to Building Official” form (Florida form 61G20-2.005-2002.01).

  • The applicant will also be asked:
“Do you have the written fee owner’s authorization to use a private provider?”

    • If the permit is using a Private Provider, this question must be answered “Yes.”

    • Marking “No” when a Private Provider is being used will result in rejection of the application at prescreen and review.

Which Application Form to Use After March 9, 2026

Beginning March 9, 2026:

  • All permits that use a Private Provider must use the updated Uniform Building Permit Application (with the Private Provider questions). Older versions of the form will not be accepted for Private Provider jobs.

  • Permits that do not use a Private Provider may continue to submit the older application form (which does not include the Private Provider section) and will not be rejected solely for using the previous version at this time.
