During February, we honor the triumphs and incomparable contributions of African Americans and Black people worldwide by celebrating historic accomplishments, music, art, food, community, and more. Pompano Beach is proud to host a rich roster of events for everyone to enjoy! The Tiger Trail Festival is also this month and will feature an epic array of festivities, including a black-tie gala, a 5k walk, a gospel concert, and a street festival.
February 5-14 │Freshly Rooted | Playwright: Bryan Keyth Wilson
Brévo Theatre’s Freshly Rooted – New Works Series proudly features playwright Bryan Keyth Wilson for the 2026 season. Known for his bold, unapologetic voice and commitment to expanding Black theatrical narratives, Wilson brings a powerful lineup of work to South Florida, including fully staged productions and new play readings. Season Includes: FOR COLORED BOYZ and LUV NO LIMIT.
February 5 & 19│Fefe & Friends: Stand Up Comedy Workshop
Discover your funny bone in this high-energy beginner’s stand-up comedy course led by comedian Fefe, bringing 19 years of stage experience. With guidance from guest artists and instructors, you’ll write, refine, and perform your own five-minute set, then take the mic in a live, culminating showcase. Open to aspiring comedians ages 14 and up, this is your chance to learn, laugh, and shine on stage.
February 6-27 │ Uzumaki │Artist in Residence: Jed Lee Metayer
In Uzumaki, painter Jed-Lee Metayer transforms grief over his father’s passing into an act of spiritual renewal. His luminous spirals echo the turbulence of loss and the gradual return to peace, their rhythmic precision resembling prayer. Influenced by Japanese aesthetics and Taoist philosophy, the work meditates on impermanence, rebirth, and reimagined faith. Painting becomes devotion, as the spiral emerges as both wound and halo, sanctifying grief through color and motion.
February 7 │Story Time at the Blanche Ely House Museum │Animal-nificent by Zion Benjamin
This month’s story time celebrates Black History Month with an animal-filled adventure from Animal-nificent by Zion Benjamin! Kids will enjoy an engaging read-aloud, create themed art, and share healthy snacks while exploring culture, creativity, and their own magnificent abilities.
February 7 │Present... In Place, Space and Time …Music Series
Experience a unique musical journey beyond the mainland with this captivating series, continuing from the acclaimed Present…in Place, Space and Time. February 19 │Jazz Reflections
Hosted by stellar jazz vocalist and violinist Nicole Yarling along with members of the Gold Coast Jazz Society Band. This free concert is presented by the Gold Coast Jazz Society, in honor of Black History Month. Yarling is a violinist, singer and teacher born in Brooklyn, New York, to a musical family in which her father played jazz organ and piano.
February 20 │Ladies of Simone
Join us for an unforgettable evening as the Ladies of Simone honor the legacy of Nina Simone, performing timeless classics like "I Loves You Porgy," "My Baby Just Cares for Me," and "To Be Young, Gifted, and Black," celebrating her profound impact on music and culture.
February 21 │Exquisite Food and Wine Festival
Exquisite is a one-of-a-kind evening celebrating Black art, culinary excellence, and soulful sounds through curated visual art, live performances, and tastings from top Black chefs and mixologists. Set under the stars in an elegant courtyard, this immersive cultural experience also supports the Empowering Black Creatives Scholarship Fund.
February 21 │Tiger Trail Street Festival
The Tiger Trail Festival is takin' it to the streets for the illest Pompano community reunion of the year! NO TICKETS NEEDED. This is for the PEOPLE. Bring the whole crew—your lil' ones, your grandparents, your neighbors—and immerse yourselves in a day of pure, uncut community joy.
February 27 │An Evening of Gospel
Night of Gospel brings together extraordinary community choirs for a powerful evening of praise, faith, and uplifting music in celebration of Black History Month. Enjoy award-winning sounds, shared unity, and free food while supplies last during this joyful, spirit-filled experience.
February 28 │The Porch Talk: A One Act Play
Written by Sharonda “Eccentrich” Richardson and directed by Curtis Smith, The Porch Talk is a free, heartfelt and humorous generational drama by Pompano natives that explores family, heritage, and community, presented with Pompano Beach Arts and the Tiger Trail Festival and followed by a special documentary screening and talkback at The Hive.
February 28 │RUBIN a Documentary by Tenille Brow - Film Screening
Experience RUBIN , a powerful original documentary by filmmaker Tenille Brown that brings to light the life and legacy of Rubin Stacy and his lasting impact on Broward County. Told through the voice of his niece, Anne Naves, the film blends personal memory with collective history in a moving act of remembrance and resilience. Stay after the screening for a meaningful conversation with the director on storytelling, healing, and the power of preserving local history.
February 28 │Groovin’ on a Saturday Morning… During Green Market
Jazz icon Nicole Yarling brings the next generation of jazz talent to the Pompano Beach Green Market. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Jazz Education Community Coalition Band and students from North Broward Prep will light up the stage with a vibrant set of jazz standards, followed by a student-led community jazz jam. Musicians of all ages are invited to join in and jam alongside these rising stars.
