Underwater Webcam Launched by Wahoo Bay for Real-Time Marine Life Viewing
The City of Pompano Beach is thrilled to announce that Wahoo Bay, the one-of-a-kind marine park in the Roy L. Rogers Family Park, has activated its underwater camera. This innovative technology will allow visitors to experience the vibrant marine life at the park in real time without the need for diving gear. Last year, the debut of the underwater camera below the Fisher Family Pier amassed a tremendous following online. Wahoo Bay’s camera is expected to attract an equal number of ocean life devotees, students, and scientists to its live streams!
“We are thrilled to offer this unique opportunity for our community to connect with the marine environment,” said Mayor Rex Hardin. “The underwater camera will provide a fascinating glimpse into the underwater world, fostering a deeper appreciation for our coastal ecosystem. This exciting feature aims to educate and inspire visitors of all ages about the rich biodiversity of our local waterways. Thanks to the generosity of Shipwreck Park, the camera they donated for the Pier has become a viral sensation, and we look forward to the Wahoo Bay feed attracting a massive audience as well!”
The underwater camera at Wahoo Bay is strategically positioned in between the SEAHIVES to capture stunning views of fish, sea turtles, and other aquatic creatures. A novel invention, SEAHIVE units are a marine and estuarine shoreline protection system.

The live stream feed will be accessible to the public through the City’s website, Wahoo Bay’s website and social media channels. This exciting new feature aims to educate and inspire visitors of all ages about our local waterways.
Wahoo Bay is a public-private partnership between the City of Pompano Beach, Broward County, FL, the State of Florida, and Shipwreck Park, Inc., which aims to ignite a passion for ocean conservation, particularly among younger generations. Wahoo Bay is an immersive educational experience designed to foster environmental awareness and inspire future generations to become stewards of our precious ocean. The facility offers a unique opportunity for visitors to explore a protected underwater world teeming with marine life. Through snorkeling adventures, visitors will come face-to-face with the wonders of the local ecosystem. Now, with the addition of this camera, everyone will have the opportunity to explore this marine sanctuary virtually.
The Shipwreck Park Mission
The mission of Shipwreck Park, a growing network of underwater conservation parks, is to use art and technology to raise awareness of how to preserve our natural coral reef systems. Currently, Shipwreck Park consists of two dive sites, both about a mile off the Pompano Beach Coast: the Lady Luck and the Okinawa, both decommissioned ships that are located in one of the most easily accessible major dive sites in the U.S., and the latest project, Wahoo Bay, an educational site designed to provide an immersive experience for park visitors, especially young children, which will advance Shipwreck Park’s mission to raise awareness of the importance of keeping our oceans and reefs healthy and thriving in an entertaining, educational and memorable way.
