Two Community Meetings Scheduled to Review Police Services Feasibility Study

The independent consultant retained to conduct the City of Pompano Beach’s police services feasibility study will host two public presentations and community input meetings. During these meetings, the consultant will present findings on police service options, including the potential transition from the Broward Sheriff’s Office to a locally operated municipal police department, and will invite residents to share their input and questions.

During the presentation, the independent consultant, Raftelis, will provide a detailed overview of the study’s key findings, including projected costs, operational considerations, organizational structure, staffing models, transition timelines, and potential impacts on service delivery. The session is intended to give residents, business owners, and community stakeholders a clear and comprehensive understanding of the data, analysis, and options available to the City.

Meeting Details:

Date: Thursday, February 26th
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Location: E. Pat Larkins Community Center | 520 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd

Date: Thursday, March 12th
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Community engagement is a vital component of this process. Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share comments. Public input will assist the City Commission as it evaluates the study and considers possible next steps regarding the future of police services in Pompano Beach.

The feasibility study was commissioned to ensure that any decision concerning the City’s police services is informed by thorough financial, operational, and community-impact analysis. No final decision has been made at this time.

Residents are encouraged to attend and participate in this important conversation about the future of public safety in Pompano Beach.
