Pompano Beach Residents Invited to Explore Going Solar Through Broward County Solar Co-op | Free program provides education and support for homeowners and small businesses considering solar energy

Pompano Beach residents and small business owners interested in solar energy have a new opportunity to learn about the process, explore their options, and potentially save money by purchasing solar as part of a group.

The City of Pompano Beach is partnering with the nonprofit Solar United Neighbors (SUN) to promote the Broward County Solar Co-op, a free program that helps homeowners and small businesses make informed decisions about installing solar panels.

The co-op is free to join, and there is no obligation to purchase or install solar. Participants receive educational resources and support throughout the process, including a free roof review to help determine whether solar may be a good fit for their property.

Once enough residents and businesses join the co-op, SUN will solicit competitive bids from local solar installers. A selection committee made up of co-op members will review the bids and select an installer to serve the group. The selected installer will then provide each participating property owner with an individualized proposal.

Each member makes their own decision about whether to move forward with installation.

By bringing together interested property owners, the co-op provides participants with an opportunity to learn about solar alongside their neighbors while benefiting from a competitive group purchasing process and independent educational support.

This is the ninth solar co-op organized by Solar United Neighbors in Broward County. Previous Broward County co-ops have helped nearly 200 families install solar, with SUN estimating more than $10 million in energy-cost savings over the lifetime of those systems.
