The City of Pompano Beach is providing an update on the McNab Road Streetscape and Bridge Replacement Project as construction continues along this important east-west corridor.

Due to the recent persistent rainfall during South Florida’s rainy season, the bridge replacement phase of the overall McNab Road Streetscape and Bridge Replacement Project is now anticipated to be completed and reopened to traffic by November 1, 2026. This bridge replacement revised timeline remains subject to favorable weather conditions and the absence of additional unforeseen construction impacts.

Importantly, the revised schedule for this phase is not currently expected to affect the overall project timeline. The full McNab Road Streetscape and Bridge Replacement Project remains scheduled for completion by December 2026.

The result will be a safer, more resilient, and more accessible McNab Road that will serve our community for decades to come.”

McNab Road is a key east-west route connecting neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and community spaces. The existing bridge, originally constructed in 1959, has reached the end of its useful life and has been identified as functionally obsolete. Its replacement is a priority under the voter-approved 2018 “G.O. Pompano!” Bond program.

The project extends along McNab Road from South Cypress Road to Federal Highway and includes comprehensive improvements designed to modernize aging infrastructure, enhance safety and mobility, address drainage concerns, and create a more accessible corridor for motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users. Improvements include ADA-compliant sidewalks and ramps, road resurfacing, enhanced lighting, upgraded drainage systems, new pedestrian and bicycle facilities, improved bus stops and shelters, utility infrastructure upgrades, landscaping enhancements, and a full bridge replacement designed to improve safety, resiliency, and navigability.

Working closely with the contractor, engineer, and entire project team, City staff are advancing the remaining work as efficiently as possible while maintaining the safety and quality standards required for the project.
