City Offers Nonprofit Partnership Opportunities

Monday, April 3rd - Friday, May 5th

The City of Pompano Beach will be accepting online nonprofit partnership requests from April 3rd until May 5th for the Fiscal Year 2023-2024. The City receives nonprofit partnership requests once a year via the City’s website at https://pompanobeachfl.gov/community. Nonprofit organizations need to provide services/programs that are beneficial to the residents of the City of Pompano Beach and that expand the services the City is currently not in a position to provide to the residents. In addition, nonprofit organizations should work to achieve our strategic goals and highlight our rich cultural make-up as a community. Strategic Philanthropy Inc. will be administering the Nonprofit Program on behalf of the City of Pompano Beach.

Due to the number of requests the City of Pompano Beach receives, the City has prioritized its giving to three funding priorities that align with the City’s Strategic Plan 2021-2036. The proposed program and/or event must focus on one or more of the three funding priorities:

Preferred Place to Live

  • Education:
    • Work with local nonprofits on school readiness, low-performing schools' turnaround and the achievement gap
    • Offer resources to help teachers to be more effective
    • Helping underperforming students acquire the knowledge, skills and behaviors they need to succeed in school, college or career pathways
    • Offer education in financial literacy, budgeting, insurance, and home maintenance to teach residents to manage resources on a limited income
    • Stimulate cognitive and social emotional learning and career pathway interest of teens with the use of technology including but not limited to: STEM education, cybersecurity and e-sports

  • Behavioral Health:
    • Help residents (including youth and families) who have substance use disorders, mental health disorders or co-occurring mental and substance use disorders with treatment, recovery support services and prevention
    • Improve behavioral health outcomes for residents by reducing rates of hospitalization, mortality, substance use, and involvement with the criminal justice system
    • Support the prevention and reduction of community violence, including those most at risk of experiencing community violence, including youth, racial and ethnic minority groups, and disadvantaged or underserved groups

  • Senior Services:
    • Assist senior residents to maintain their independence and improve their quality of life by providing transportation, meal assistance, support groups and healthy living programming

Preferred Place to Do Business

  • Workforce Readiness:
    • Give access to vocational assistance, training/education, technical skills, job search assistance, and referrals for job placement for high school age students in Pompano Beach and/or adult residents
    • Train in interpersonal skills to assist in job-seeking
    • Connect employers who need skilled workers to those in need of employment
    • Develop small business and entrepreneurship training for residents with lack of access to jobs
    • Provide childcare and transportation services for residents to work and thrive in the communities that they live in

Preferred Place to Visit

  • Community Events & Preserving Cultural Heritage:
    • Support events that drive economic development into the Pompano Beach area
    • Support events that use of our "world-class" beach, growing downtown and destination venues as an event venue
    • Preserve cultural sites, objects and/or expressions that have a historical or cultural significance to the City and highlight our rich cultural make-up as a community

In an effort to answer any questions nonprofits may have about the application process the City will be hosting an online info session via Zoom on April 12th at 12:00 – 1:00 PM. You may register online for the info session.
