City of Pompano Beach Honors Kodak Black with Key to the City for Outstanding Generosity and Community Impact

City Commission Chambers | 100 W Atlantic Boulevard

Tuesday, July 8th

1:00 pm

The City of Pompano Beach is proud to recognize one of its own, Grammy-nominated rapper and philanthropist Kodak Black, with the Key to the City—an honor reserved for individuals whose contributions have profoundly impacted the local community.

Born and raised in Pompano Beach, Kodak Black has never forgotten his roots. His generosity and heartfelt commitment to the people of this City have touched thousands of lives. From donating air conditioning units to families in need during Florida’s sweltering summers to distributing hundreds of turkeys during the holiday season, his acts of kindness have provided both relief and joy to countless residents.

Every year, Kodak ensures that local children wake up to gifts and bicycles at Christmas, helping to create magical memories for families who otherwise may have gone without. Most notably, he has also paid the rent of over 200 struggling families—twice—during times of economic hardship, helping to prevent homelessness and provide stability when it was needed most.

“This recognition is not about celebrity,” said Mayor Rex Hardin. “It’s about heart. Kodak Black has consistently and quietly extended a hand to lift up others in our community, and today we want to shine a light on those efforts and say thank you—from the entire City.”

The official Key to the City ceremony will take place on July 8th at 1:00 p.m. at the Commission Chamber, 100 West Atlantic Boulevard. City officials, local leaders, and community members will gather to celebrate Kodak Black’s unwavering commitment to giving back.
