City of Pompano Beach Announces Significant Progress on McNab Road Streetscape and Bridge Replacement Project

The City of Pompano Beach is pleased to report significant progress on the McNab Road Streetscape and Bridge Replacement Project, with major construction milestones achieved and work continuing to advance on this important infrastructure investment.

Construction has advanced considerably in recent months, with the bridge's substructure now complete and major components of the superstructure, including the prestressed structural members and concrete deck, substantially in place. Crews are making steady progress on the bridge approaches and retaining walls, while utility improvements and major streetscape concrete work were completed earlier this year.

Landscaping installation and preparations to finalize and activate the new LED roadway lighting are now underway, with final paving and stripping activities to follow. These accomplishments represent important steps toward delivering a more modern bridge and a safer, more resilient roadway for the Pompano Beach community.

South Florida's unusually active 2026 rainy season has presented challenges for construction crews, with more than 90 days of rain recorded since May. Despite these weather-related conditions, crews continue to make substantial progress while carefully coordinating construction activities to maintain safety and quality standards.

The City continues to work closely with the contractor and engineering consultant to coordinate the remaining construction activities and identify opportunities to maintain momentum. Additional work hours, including overnight and weekend operations, may be considered, if necessary, while remaining mindful of nearby residents and businesses.

The McNab Road Streetscape and Bridge Replacement Project is a major infrastructure investment through the voter-approved 2018 "G.O. Pompano!" Bond program. The improvements are designed to enhance roadway safety, improve pedestrian and bicycle accessibility, upgrade drainage and lighting, and strengthen connectivity along this important east-west corridor.

As construction progresses, the City remains focused on advancing the remaining work as efficiently as possible while maintaining the safety and quality standards the community deserves.

The City appreciates the continued patience and cooperation of residents, businesses, and motorists throughout construction and looks forward to delivering these long-lasting improvements to the community. Additional project updates will be shared as work progresses.
