Autism Awareness Day is Saturday, April 30th. The City of Pompano Beach’s Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with Broward Sheriff’s Office, Pompano Beach Fire Rescue and the Autism Society of Florida is hosting a free event for people of all ages.
The Autism Awareness Day celebration will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Pompano Community Park which is located at 1801 NE 6th Street.
Participants can enjoy sensory play, a petting zoo, arts and crafts, and food trucks. There will even be a first responder vehicle display to be explored! Join us in spreading autism awareness!
According to the Autism Society, autism is a complex, lifelong developmental disability that typically appears during early childhood and can impact a person’s social skills, communication, relationships, and self-regulation. Autism is defined by a certain set of behaviors and is a “spectrum condition” that affects people differently and to varying degrees.
