Pompano Beach Fire Rescue Responds to Ocean Rescue Drowning Incident

At approximately 7:40 p.m. last evening, Pompano Beach Fire Rescue received a 911 call reporting a swimmer in distress in the ocean near 10 N. Pompano Beach Boulevard.

Ocean Rescue lifeguards were immediately dispatched and entered the water, where they located an unresponsive adult male, approximately 50 years of age. Lifeguards brought the victim back to shore and promptly initiated CPR, continuing lifesaving measures until Fire Rescue arrived.

Upon arrival, Pompano Beach Fire Rescue paramedics assumed care and initiated advanced life support. Continuous resuscitative efforts were maintained during transport to Broward Health North.

Despite extensive lifesaving efforts, the patient was subsequently pronounced deceased at the hospital.
