Building Department Honors Mike Rada’s Service and Announces Jay Olsen as Acting Building Official (June 18, 2026)

The Building Department extends its sincere appreciation to Mike Rada as he prepares to retire after many years of dedicated service to the City of Pompano Beach.

Mike’s career with the Building Department reflects a long-standing commitment to public service, professionalism, and the safety of our community. Over the years, he advanced through several key roles, beginning as an Inspector, then serving as a Plan Examiner, Chief Building Inspector, and ultimately becoming Building Official in 2019.

Throughout his tenure, Mike has provided steady leadership, technical expertise, and professional guidance in support of the safety, integrity, and quality of the built environment in Pompano Beach. His service has made a lasting impact on the department, residents, contractors, design professionals, and all who have had the opportunity to work with him.

As Mike begins this next chapter, we thank him for his dedication and wish him the very best in retirement.

Beginning Monday, June 22, Jay Olsen will serve as Acting Building Official. Jay will help ensure continued leadership and support for Building Department operations during this transition.
