Business Tax Receipt (BTR) Requirement
If your business is located within the City of Pompano Beach, you are required to obtain a Business Tax Receipt (BTR) for:
- The business, and
- Each individual qualifier
This requirement is separate from contractor registration.

Contractor Registration
To obtain a permit for any licensed construction or alteration work within the City of Pompano Beach, all contractors must submit their license and insurance information online.
State-Certified Contractors
If you hold a State License, you must provide:
- State License
- Liability and Workers’ Compensation Insurance listing the City of Pompano Beach as certificate holder
(City of Pompano Beach, P.O. Drawer 1300, Pompano Beach, FL 33061) - Workers’ Compensation Exemption (if applicable)
Broward County or Non-Competency Trades
If you hold a Broward County Competency Card or your trade does not require a competency card, you must provide:
- Broward County Certificate of Competency
or a Local Business Tax Receipt (per HB 735: Preemption of Local Occupational Licensing)
- Liability and Workers’ Compensation Insurance listing the City of Pompano Beach as certificate holder
