Business Tax Receipt (BTR) Requirement

If your business is located within the City of Pompano Beach, you are required to obtain a Business Tax Receipt (BTR) for:

• The business, and
• Each individual qualifier

This requirement is separate from contractor registration.

Contractor Registration

To obtain a permit for any licensed construction or alteration work within the City of Pompano Beach, all contractors must submit their license and insurance information online.

State-Certified Contractors

If you hold a State License, you must provide:

• State License
• Liability and Workers’ Compensation Insurance listing the City of Pompano Beach as certificate holder
  (City of Pompano Beach, P.O. Drawer 1300, Pompano Beach, FL 33061)
• Workers’ Compensation Exemption (if applicable)

Broward County or Non-Competency Trades

If you hold a Broward County Competency Card or your trade does not require a competency card, you must provide:

• Broward County Certificate of Competency
  or a Local Business Tax Receipt (per HB 735: Preemption of Local Occupational Licensing)

• Liability and Workers’ Compensation Insurance listing the City of Pompano Beach as certificate holder

• Workers’ Compensation Exemption (if applicable)
