Unfinished Stories is a series of oil paintings created to raise awareness about human trafficking, an issue that deeply affects South Florida, the third-ranked state in the U.S. for such crimes. The paintings depict children, to represent the most innocent and vulnerable of our society. The intentionally unfinished aesthetic reveals the underlayers of paint and charcoal drawing representing the unresolved trauma and incomplete stories of survivors. Through these pieces, Claudette Goico Sernius blends art and advocacy, using her brush to amplify the voices of the silenced and inspire hope for healing and change.
