The Broward Sheriff’s Office Pompano Beach District, in partnership with the City of Pompano Beach, will host a gun buyback event on Saturday, Sept. 2, to collect and keep unwanted firearms off the streets.

The drive-thru event will occur from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at McNair Park located at 951 N.W. 27 Avenue in Pompano Beach. Participants can receive up to $150 in gift cards, depending on the gun turned in.

The compensation for firearms turned in will be as follows:

• Small Caliber Pistols and Rifles: $25.00
• Revolvers and Semi-automatic Pistol: $75.00
• Semi-automatic Pistol (Calibers. 45, .50 and above and FN 5.7): Shotgun/Long Rifle (bolt action or breach operated, FN 5.7 and .50): $100.00
• Assault Type Rifle/Weapon (magazine or belt fed): $150.00

The event is part of BSO’s commitment to improve public safety and remove unwanted and/or unsecured firearms from the community. Anyone interested in turning in a gun at this event may do so without questions asked. Both traditional and non-traditional firearms (i.e., airsoft or pellet guns) obtained through this event will be destroyed.

• No ammunition

• Bring firearms unloaded, in a secure bag or container and place them inside your trunk

• Cylinder or action open
