Rising Up to the Flood Challenge
The City of Pompano Beach is creating a new Adaptation Plan to address flooding and climate impacts in our community—and your input matters!
The first major public engagement opportunity will take place on February 11, 2026, at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center, beginning at 6:00 PM. This initial meeting will focus on the early development stages of the Adaptation Plan, including how risk and vulnerability are assessed and a review of existing social and environmental conditions citywide. Feedback gathered during this meeting will help shape priorities before strategies are finalized.
A second public outreach meeting is tentatively planned for April 2026. At that time, the City will present a draft Adaptation Plan featuring proposed strategies such as infrastructure improvements, nature-based solutions, and updated policy tools. Participants will take part in interactive activities to evaluate these actions based on feasibility and community benefit.
This project follows the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Adaptation Action Area Planning Guidebook, which promotes science-based, locally driven adaptation planning.
