Behind the Fence: A Sneak Peek at The McNab House and Botanical Gardens

We know you have been curious about what’s going on ‘behind the fence’ at The McNab House and Botanical Gardens. While we are not ready for the big reveal yet, we are excited to share a sneak peek. And just like your favorite home and garden TV shows always emphasize, having a structurally sound building is critical for any successful renovation.

The moving of the McNab House was a TV news sensation, and since then there has been continuous progress on the project. Recent key milestones include waterproofing of the home’s foundation and then lowering the structure onto the foundation, which will include a basement/wine cellar. And to make way for the botanical gardens, the former Chamber of Commerce building was acquired by the CRA and then demolished.

Many of you have been active in our community stakeholder meetings about the botanical gardens, and we appreciate your input and feedback. The award-winning design firm, Bermillo Ajamal & Partners, who hosted these meetings, is finalizing the configuration of this amenity-rich space, which will become an incredible destination for residents and tourists alike.

In the coming months, we also look forward to announcing the operator of the new restaurant which will occupy the transformed McNab House. So, stay tuned for updates!

And finally, we are delighted to announce that the McNab House Restoration and Botanical Gardens was the 2021 winner of the “Out of the Box” category in the annual Florida Redevelopment Association Awards. The Pompano Beach CRA is honored that this project received such a prestigious recognition among numerous redevelopment projects throughout the state!
