A Vision Inspired by Community: Help Shape the New E. Pat Larkins Center

There is still time to help shape the New E. Pat Larkins Center. As part of the New Downtown, the City of Pompano Beach and the CRA are hosting a series of Community Engagement Sessions at the E. Pat Larkins Community Center, where residents can share their stories, ideas, and dreams for the new center.

The September session was a heartfelt evening of memories, as residents shared stories of E. Pat Larkins, Pompano Beach’s first Black mayor, along with the pioneers who helped shape this community. Neighbors of all ages came together over light bites from local vendors to talk about the people and moments that define this neighborhood, so their legacies will be reflected in the new community center, which will honor his legacy and serve the City for generations to come.

The conversation continues on Wednesday, October 14, at 6:00 p.m. with Shape the Space: Rooms, Features, and Amenities. This is your opportunity to share your ideas for the rooms, features, and amenities the new center should include. Help guide the vision for its next chapter. Connect with neighbors, be part of the conversation, and enjoy free light bites from local Pompano Beach restaurants.

These sessions are part of a seven-part series that will continue through February, with each session exploring a new part of the center's future. Leading the conversations are the architects selected for the project, STUDIO-US and METICULOUS Design Architecture.

Sessions are free and held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the E. Pat Larkins Community Center, 520 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Pompano Beach, FL 33060. Register and learn more at www.downtownpompanobeach.org.
