A Lineup of Laughter, Music, Magic, and Heart: Four Must-See Shows Coming to the Pompano Beach Cultural Center
This February and March, the Pompano Beach Cultural Center is rolling out one of its most exciting lineups yet—four unforgettable productions that promise comedy, soul, storytelling, and mind-bending magic. Whether you love musical theater, iconic tributes, sharp-witted comedies, or illusion that defies logic, these upcoming shows offer something for everyone.
Pompano Players presents: FIRST DATE
February 6–15 | Tickets $55
Kicking things off is First Date, a fast-paced musical comedy that dives headfirst into the unpredictable world of blind dating. When straight-laced Aaron meets bold, serial-dater Casey for a drink at a New York City restaurant, their awkward introductions quickly spiral into a wildly entertaining night neither of them could have expected.
In this clever musical told in real time, the people around them hilariously transform into overprotective parents, manipulative exes, and cheerleader-style best friends—all voices in their heads vying to guide (or sabotage) their shot at connection. With social media lurking in the background and a meddling waiter pushing the evening along, Aaron and Casey must decide whether their disastrous first impressions could spark something real.
Filled with humor, heart, and relatable dating chaos, First Date is a charming reminder that love can surprise us when we least expect it.
LADIES OF SIMONE: A Tribute to Nina Simone
February 20 | 7:00–8:45 PM | Tickets $25
For one night only, the Cultural Center welcomes the hit musical tribute Ladies of Simone, a powerful celebration of legendary singer, pianist, and civil rights icon Nina Simone. Featuring extraordinary vocalists Toddra Brunson, Deana Butler-Rahming, Ja’Nia Harden, and Sarah Gracel, this riveting revue captures Simone’s unmistakable passion, elegance, and activist spirit.
Audiences will be transported through Simone’s most iconic eras with soul-stirring renditions of classics like “I Loves You, Porgy,” “Sinnerman,” and “To Be Young, Gifted, and Black.” Emotional, uplifting, and deeply resonant, this performance is perfect for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Pompano Players presents: BOCA
March 13–22 | Tickets $55
Next up is Boca, a bright, witty comedy set in the sun-drenched Boca Oasis retirement community, where life is anything but quiet. Here, vibrant seniors juggle romance, rivalry, tennis matches, game-night drama, and the occasional happy-hour revelation.
Told through a series of clever, interwoven vignettes, Boca explores love, reinvention, and friendship in life’s so-called “golden years.” With heartwarming humor and sharp insight, this delightful production proves that fun has no age limit—and that second acts can be the most exciting of all.
JOEL MEYERS – Celebrity Magician!
March 27 | 7:00–9:00 PM Tickets $25
Closing out the lineup is world-renowned illusionist and mentalist Joel Meyers, bringing his internationally acclaimed magic show to Pompano Beach. Featured on major TV hits like America’s Got Talent, FakeOff, Masters of Illusion, and Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Meyers delivers a high-energy evening filled with jaw-dropping illusions, comedy, and charisma.
With performances for global superstars, tours in more than 50 countries, and awards including APCA’s Magician and Mentalist of the Year, Meyers continues to astonish audiences everywhere he goes.
