The Public Art Committee will hold a dedication ceremony for the Le Corsaire sculpture located at the Ali Cultural Arts Center on Sunday, December 12 at 5:30 pm.
Le Corsaire is one of Pompano Beach’s newest Public Art sculptures. The artwork is created by Linda Serrao, a California-based artist. The City’s Public Art Committee purchased the artwork in 2020. Serrao’s piece was selected out of 104 applications.
Serrao’s work focuses on figurative bronze sculptures and life size bronze portraits. Her sculptures are figurative, realistic, and meant to capture a moment in time and to reflect our relationships to other people, creatures, and to the environment which we all share. Serrao strives to subtly imply a symbol or story or situation within her lifelike bronze figures. Le Corsaire depicts a male dancer jumping in the air with beauty and ease.
