Process for sale of City owned surplus real property
The City of Pompano Beach sells City owned real property declared as surplus in accordance with Section 253 Article XXV of the Charter of the City of Pompano Beach. Once the property has been declared as surplus by the City Commission the land shall be offered for sale to the public with an Invitation for Sealed Bids. Surplus real property solicitations are advertised in the Legal Advertisement section of the Sun-Sentinel and posted on the Real Property Division webpage in the Surplus Property Solicitations section. The City may also advertise surplus real property on Co-Star, LandWatch, LoopNet and other websites.
All bids must clearly state the bid price and shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in the form of a cashier's checks or certified check, payable to the City of Pompano Beach, in an amount equal to ten (10%) percent of the total bid amount.
The property will be sold to the highest and best bidder. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Upon the acceptance of a bid by the City Commission, the successful bidder will enter into a contract prepared by the City Attorney for the purchase of the property.
Development of all property located in the City is regulated by applicable City Codes.
Development of City owned property by the Office of Housing and Urban Development (OHUI)
The Office of Housing and Urban Development’s goal is to assist in the development and redevelopment of a viable community which provides affordable housing, economic opportunity, and a safe living environment. This is carried out through a variety of programs and activities that focus on neighborhood revitalization, improved community facilities, services and economic development. All of programs are funded entirely through state or federal grant programs. These programs include Community Development Block Grants, State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP program), Home Investment Partnership, First Time Home Buyer, Housing Rehabilitation and Emergency Repairs.
